Week 2 Progress

Ham and Dog - Week 2 - Progress

This week I spent a lot of time on actually making the game, as well as all of the assets i used. I began by following the Brackeys Godot tutorial for the basics of my game, as I believed that way would be the easiest way to get started. I already used Godot a couple times before, (though never made a complete game with it), so I was not too intimidated or confused starting off. Things went pretty smoothly and I was able to get the base mechanics such as characer movement, tilemaps, pickups and killzones down in my game. While I wouldn't say this part of the process was very difficult, it definitely did take me a very long time to get all the basics working.

Once I made my test level and confirmed that everything I had so far was working, I started working on the assets for this project. I really wanted to see what the game would look like with my own unique assets, so I could not wait until the game was completely done. I spent a pretty long amount of time working on all the art for my game, starting from the tileset to every little object. This part of the process was definitely the most fun for me!

From there on I kept going back and forth between developing the game and working on the assets. I used many tutorials for the rest of the game development. There were some new things I wanted to try that didn't work out, such as a camera zooming in and out based on how close the characters are to eachother, and gave up eventually.

This week was extremely busy for me, however I had fun and definitely learned a lot!
