Week 1 - Progress

Week 1 - Narrative Game Progress

I mostly spent the past week doing research on the tool I will be using to create my game, Twine. Since I never used this tool before, I wanted to familiarize myself with it and see what is and isn't possible with it before jumping right into it.

I started this process by playing many short games made using Twine, which I felt like already gave me a general picture of what I was getting into. I read many guides and tutorials and searched up if the things I was hoping to do for my game were possible on Twine.

After I figured out most of what there is to Twine, I started brainstorming about the themes of my game. I wanted to go for an unsettling game with comedic undertones, and I wanted my game to be heavily interactive. I am not much of a writer so a game with many choices that determine every little thing is more of my thing.

I decided to make this game kind of like a personality test, but I guess a little deeper and more abstract than the average one. "Who are you?" is a game about figuring out who you truly are, turning your plain blob into something that actually feels authentic to you.

Once I made a general plan of what I wanted my game to be like, I started writing the script. I tested many things out on Twine and started putting my script (in progress) into the game. I am hoping to spend this upcoming week working on finishing my script and making the game visually appealing.
